Music has always been a part of Leo Marchildon's life. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Leo was a top-notch student at St. Michael's Choir School, which prepared him for earning degrees at the Royal Canadian College of Organists, the Western Conservatory of London, Ontario, the Royal Conservatory of Music, the University of Toronto, and the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
Leo's expertise has taken him all over the world via touring productions of Phantom of the Opera, Sunset Boulevard, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and Bugs Bunny on Broadway, for which he restored the original cartoon scores and featured prominently on its official album.
As a music editor for television, Leo helped shape the musical landscape of programs including The Adventures of Sinbad, Trial By Fire: A North of 60 Mystery, and Gene Roddenberry’s long-running sci-fi series Andromeda.
Leo also enjoys giving back to the community through his music. He has served as organist and music director for numerous churches, and passed on his extensive knowledge through private lessons, classrooms, and Workshop Live, an interactive environment in which students can learn from Leo on-line.
But composition is truly Leo's first musical love. His work can be heard in the television series Wexford, the stage production Millie's Girls, the feature film Gabriela, and the documentary Cell Block Scholars, which earned him a regional Emmy nomination. His most recent work is the musical drama The Nine Lives of L.M. Montgomery, which so far has seen two productions on Montgomery's native Prince Edward Island.
After many years in Los Angeles, Leo now lives on Prince Edward Island, where he is the music director for St. Dunstan's Basilica in Charlottetown and the diocese of the entire province.
